However, when your costs keep  increasing and you find yourself ‘absorbing’ these costs to the detriment  of paying yourself a wage then the time for increasing your pricing is long  over-due. 

Most consumers know that a business must occasionally raise prices  because their costs of doing business has increased, This could be due to  rises in legal and statutory costs, supplies, payroll and utility charges (to name a few). It may help to remember that consumers are most likely experiencing some the same increases in their own house-hold bills too;  so many loyal customers will understand your reasons for your need to  increase your prices. 

The reality is, that however you justify a price increase, it has the  potential to negatively impact sales as price-conscious customers are left  no option but to seek out lower cost alternatives.

So how do you increase your prices without losing your customers? Apply these five steps when preparing your strategy for communicating a price increase with your customers.

1. Inform your customers well in advance.

Energy Management vs Time Management in Your Tattoo Business

Most business owners think that no matter how much time they spend and how much work they have to juggle, they are thriving in their business because of the cultural idea of time management.

Well, who has not adhered to the idea, at one point or another, that proper time management is what you really need to get multiple tasks completed?

Most regular business owners have a routine. This routine can include serving their clients, booking them into an appointment, entertaining calls from two to three phone lines—not to mention receiving and sending from their fax. They even get to complete the company's newsletter and write their own advert at the same time. And more tasks wait for them to complete like reading the mail and responding to them, preparing invoices and paying accounts, training new personnel and so it goes on. Notice that they do EVERYTHING regularly in running their business!

However, a smart business owner concentrates on energy management over and above time management. This allows for him to think of results as a function of energy, not time invested. Working energetically for a short period of time can complete more tasks than working for a long period of time multi-tasking, tired and distracted. Working yourself into low energy can actually make you accomplish less than if you rested.

It will be a waste of your precious time if you do the things you are not interested with, you don't know anything about and you don’t intend to be excellent at. Delegate them to someone who knows what he is doing.  And for the things you want to master and you are interested with, make it a priority to learn and practice it beyond what is necessary. Skill saves time.

You can work in bursts. Give yourself the time to completely focus on doing a task, then take a complete rest. Don't switch in between work and play—this will allow the tendency to prolong your "play" time.

Most importantly, give yourself the gift of rest and fun. Master the ability to recharge yourself because you need it. Remember that having fun for a time is a good advice for everyone.

Knowing your priorities is the crucial technique you need in order to maximize the very best use of your own efforts and those of your team. Prioritization will also enable you to create calmness and space in your life so that you can concentrate your energy and attention on the things that you do best and really matter.

It is particularly your edge especially when the demands are high and time is limited. It ensures you budget your time where it is most-needed and most wisely spent, which in turn will free you and your team from less important tasks that can be delegated to others or attended to at a later date or dropped if deemed necessary.

Time management is an essential skill for successful people. Applying these techniques will enable you to function effectively despite any  pressures. Once practiced, these strategies become routine and become habits for success.

Change seems to happen in a blink of an eye now a days. From technology to education, from business to global competition, if you don’t think seriously about yourself and your business, it will be harder and harder for you to compete and survive.

In order for you to thrive and not just survive you must address and give your utmost attention to the work that you will be doing one, three, and five years from today.  Plan ahead to keep afloat so you don't drown in a sea of change.

Think what your business will look like five years from today. Since the so-called experts in your field are probably multiplying every year, this means that if you don’t keep up, your knowledge and your ability is becoming obsolete each year.  Remember when tattoo designs were merely flat? Now, the trend is in 3D designs that seem to jump out on you with so much dynamism and life?

You need to ask yourself, “What do I need to do today so that I will be just as valuable and even more tomorrow or the next five years from now?”

Then, boom! There’s your answer—learn more to earn more.

At present, what seems to be at play are knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge to achieve results.  That’s how you give value to others. And that’s how others will be willing to pay a premium for your products and services.

Position yourself in a way that you continue to rise above your competition in your tattoo business. Five to ten years from now, the men and women who are very good at what they do are the ones who will be able to lead.

To earn more, it is an imperative that you learn more.  Learn and practice something new and different in your industry. By the time the future becomes the now, then you have spent almost thousands of hours perfecting your craft.

Consistently learn more and let your knowledge double through continuous self development.  This will be your most valuable asset.  As you build this asset, you also stop yourself from deteriorating physically, emotionall and mentally.
